On the road we stopped and had a brief picnic on someone's lawn in Bethel -- the town's people were all very nice and friendly, the woman who owned the house even invited us in to use her bathroom and offered us cold water.

Arriving at the Wooodstock Festival, the music could be heard loudly everywhere -- it was great! Erica and her boyfriend and Monica set up some blankets on the hillside off to the side of the stage, a couple hundred thousand people away from the front.

Greg and I headed to the front of the stage -- however, there was a 12' wall around the stage, so if you were very close you could not see anything.

The fence was draped with drying sleeping bags and blankets, as you can see in the background of this photo on the left.

There was a very muddy path that had been trodden down along the edge of the fence, we went along there and soon found a spot not too far from the stage where I sat down on the ground while Greg went off to take more photos. I remember listening to Country Joe MacDonald singing a couple of songs...
